SSOD Dress Code

Ballet:

Females
Black leotard. May be short sleeve, long sleeve, cap sleeve, tank, spaghetti strap, 3/4 sleeve, or halter.
No high neck styles, strap designs on back, lace, or accessories attached to leotard, including skirts. Light pink tights (Capezio), pink split sole ballet shoes.
Males
White leotard or fitted t-shirt, black form fitting tights, dance belt, white socks, black split sole ballet shoes

Modern/Jazz  Beginner Ballet - level II

Females
Black leotard. May be short sleeve, long sleeve, cap sleeve, tank, spaghetti strap, 3/4 sleeve, or halter.
No high neck styles, strap designs on back, lace, or accessories attached to leotard, including skirts. Light pink convertable, light suntan convertable, or black stirrup tights. Some work will be done in bare feet. Ballet shoes.

Males
White leotard or fitted t-shirt, black tights (transitional or footless), white socks, dance belt, black ballet shoes.

Modern levels III - VI

Females
Black or colored leotard. May be short sleeve, long sleeve, cap sleeve, tank, spaghetti strap, 3/4 sleeve, or halter.
No high neck styles, strap designs on back, lace, or zippers.  Plain black dance shorts at least 3" in length.  Bare feet.


Males
White leotard or fitted t-shirt, dance belt, plain black dance shorts at least 3" in length.  Bare feet.


Tap:

Females
Black leotard. Traditional styles only (no strap designs on back, lace, or accessories attached to leotard, including skirts). Light pink, light suntan, or black stirrup tights.
Bloch brand tan leather split-sole oxford for all levels
Males
White leotard or fitted t-shirt, black tights, dance belt when appropriate, Bloch brand black oxford split sole tap shoes.

Hair

Females
Worn in a neat, secure, bun for all classes with the exception of level III - VI modern/ jazz (hair may be worn in a neat ponytail).
All jewelry (w/the exception of small earrings) must be removed before class. SSOD is not responsible for any lost items. Please leave valuables at home.
Males
Hair should be neatly combed, and away from the face.

Practice clothes and shoes are not appropriate attire outside of the dance school. Please wear street clothes and street shoes when coming and going from classes and rehearsals.
